Does Australia have a chance to win the T20 Cricket World Cup 2024?
Australia are currently second favorites to win the T20 Cricket World Cup behind fellow powerhouses India, according to Ladbrokes odds.
Other candidates include England, South Africa, New Zealand and Pakistan in descending order of odds, with the remaining countries considered favorites.
The Green and Gold's T20 form has been solid of late, winning three out of four T20 international series since the 2022 T20 Cricket World Cup in Australia, won by England.
With series wins against New Zealand (away), West Indies (home) and South Africa (away), Andrew McDonald's side only lost to India (away) at the end of last year.
An experienced team has been selected by the Australian selection committee, suggesting the team behind the scenes believe Australia are strong contenders to win the tournament.
Australia have selected 15 players for the world's premier T20 club competition (IPL), with 11 of those selected in the 15-man World Cup squad.
Australia's T20 Cricket World 2024 Campaign Predictions
Looking at the odds, Australia is certain to advance to the final against favorites India, and there is no doubt that they will be disappointed if they do not advance to the final.
For a country aiming to win the entire tournament, a semi-final is probably the least acceptable result.
The conditions for the tournament will be interesting, as it will be the second time that it will be held at least partially on neutral territory.
Interestingly, Australia won the last T20 World Cup held in a neutral country (hosted by UAE/Oman in 2021).
Australia should be able to finish high in the tournament and reach the finals as no other leading nation has home advantage.
