The UCLA Bruins are off to a fresh start. The program will be entering a new conference with a new coaching staff. Things will be different for the Bruins, and things have already changed a lot since hiring head coach Deshaun Foster.
While all of this is true, some things remain the same, such as who you target when it comes to recruiting.
Bruins Online's Brandon Huffman said the program is still targeting Oregon State offensive tackle Zach Staskowski. The Bruins offered the three-star scout when former head coach Chip Kelly and offensive coach Tim Drevno scouted him in January. The new coaching staff will continue to hire Staskowski from Oregon State, although the former coach hired him.
Staskowski told Huffman that the new coaching staff has shown a lot of interest in him.
“The new UCLA staff seems very enthusiastic and I'm excited to get to know them better,” Staskowski said. “We had a really fun conversation, and they were interested in sending us some film.”
Staskowski is from Portland, Oregon and attends Central Catholic High School. He is the 63rd offensive tackle in the 2025 class and the No. 3 player in the state of Oregon.
He also has offers from BYU, Arizona, Idaho, UNLV, and Washington State, to name a few. Although the Bruins have expressed interest, Staskowski said he is still weighing his options as he enters his senior season soon.
“Other schools are still working on it, but nothing is set in stone,” Staskowski said. “All my doors are still open. I have several other visits scheduled in the coming weeks.”
