Rosemont, Illinois — Gavin Brindley The University of Michigan ice hockey team named him the Big Ten Player of the Year when all-conference awards were announced on the Big Ten Network on Tuesday (March 19).

Brindley scored 29 points in 23 games against conference opponents and also won the Big Ten scoring title. He is the fifth Wolverine to accomplish this feat, joining Matty Beniers (2022), Cooper Marody (2018), Kyle Connor (2016) and Zach Hyman (2014).
Michigan's three first-team selections are the most since 2016, when the Wolverines selected four players, including Conner, JT Compher, Tyler Motte and Zach Werenski.
Brindley has 51 points in 36 games, averaging 1.42 points per game. He has a team-high 24 goals, 27 assists, and +19, and has scored at least one point in 27 games, with multiple points in 15 of those games. Brindley scored 18 points, including six goals on the nation's leading power play, and also added 23 blocked shots. The Columbus Blue Jackets' draft pick was last year's honorable mention pick. Brindley is the second Wolverine to be named B1G Player of the Year, joining Kyle Connor (2016). Six other players were finalists for this award.
McGraw-Arty ranks fourth in the nation in points per game with 1.59 points per game, with 16 goals and 35 assists. The two-time Player of the Month has scored points in 25 of 32 games and is on a seven-game point streak. The Winnipeg Jets draft pick has 16 multi-point games and has a team-high +21 on-ice rating. He has three game-winning goals and has 20 power play points, including six man-advantage goals. McGroarty was named to the B1G All-Tournament team last season.
Casey led the NCAA's defense in scoring with 44 points, 37 assists, and seven goals. He has 45 blocked shots and is +10. Casey has scored at least one point in 27 games and is currently on a four-game point streak. The New Jersey Devils draft pick has 22 power play points this season. Casey was on the B1G All-Freshman and All-Tournament teams last season.
Duke is also a Wolverine scoring at least one point per game, with 42 points in 37 games. He scored 21 goals, including a team-high 10 on the power play, and added 21 assists. Duke has scored six game-winning goals this season, good for fourth in the nation, and also has two short-handed goals.
Hughes received an honorable mention award for the second consecutive season. He is third on the team in scoring with 44 points and averages 1.19 points per game. Hughes has a team-high 22 power-play points and has the best faceoff performance in the nation at 59 percent and 353 wins. Hughes, the top undrafted free agent in college hockey, had multiple points in 25 games this season.
Nazar, who averages 1.00 points per game, has 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 37 games. He led the team with 358 wins, a winning percentage of 54.1 percent, and scored three game-winning goals. Eleven of the Chicago Blackhawks' draft picks' points came on the power play, and he also assisted on two short-handed goals.
Szyvsky had 16 goals and 14 assists as a rookie with 30 points, third in the league. At +15 he has scored points in 20 games this season, recording two of his three point games.
Truscott, the captain of team No. 102, played in all 37 games, scoring 15 points and blocking a team-high 51 shots. He partnered with Werenski to provide community groups with a hockey game day experience, meeting with each group after home games.
The University of Michigan will compete for its third consecutive B1G tournament championship on Saturday (March 23) and is ranked No. 10 in the nation.
