Penamallur police on Sunday booked a 12-year-old boy for allegedly hitting a woman with a cricket ball while the children were playing in an apartment.
A police constable took the minor, a Class 7 1 student, to the police station, where he was allegedly assaulted while in custody.
“A case was filed against the minor following a complaint that a cricket ball hit his neighbor in the same apartment building in Tadigaddapa in Krishna district,” said Rama Rao CI of Penamalur TVV.
“The complainant, Ms. G. Padmaja, alleged that the boy hit her with a cricket ball. A case under IPC section 324 (voluntary hurt by dangerous weapon) was registered against the boy,” Rama said. Mr. Rao said. hinduism.
Police chief Adnan Naeem Asmi said the complaint against the minor boy would be investigated.
Meanwhile, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairman K. Apparao condemned the action against the minor boy.
“The commission will look into the allegations against the boy and why he was beaten while in custody,” Apparao said.
Meanwhile, residents protested against the Penamallur police taking the boy to the police station.
