If you want to learn how to swim this summer, the Biloxi Natatorium and Aquatics Department is hosting annual summer swim lessons.
If you're an experienced swimmer, the Natatorium also hosts the Biloxi Red Tide summer swim team.
Swimming is often associated with the summer season, and Biloxi Swim Department staff want to help people develop the skills they need to enjoy the water.
“We are surrounded by bodies of water. All of us enjoy water activities during the summer,” said Jamie Lee, assistant director of the Biloxi Parks and Recreation Department. “And during the winter months too. Fishing, boating, and all sorts of other things. It's really important to expose them to learning to swim from an early age.”
Swimming lessons will be held at the Biloxi Natatorium from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Those lessons will be held from 5pm to 7:45pm.
A variety of sessions for all ages will be held during this period.
The number is limited, so please be sure to check with the swimming club.
Lessons are $30 for Biloxi residents and $50 for non-Biloxi residents.
Anyone interested in joining the Biloxi Red Tide Summer Swim Team must register. Registration is open weekdays from 3:30pm to 5pm.
Registration is open until May 31st. Rates range from $30 for one child of a Biloxi resident to $150 for three or more of her non-Biloxi resident children.
The summer team includes a swim meet, championship meet, and banquet.
For more information about both activities, visit Biloxi.MS.US or call Natatorium at (228)435-6205.
“We have registration and are currently offering lessons to individuals from one year old up to the adult stage,” Lee said. “Even if you have never taken a learn-to-swim program, please give us a call as we also offer such lessons.”
