Volunteer coaches and coached children team up to play flag football
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — Big Brothers Big Sisters of SLO County will hold a flag football community day scheduled for Saturday, April 27th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Laguna Middle School, 11050 Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo. Announced.
Volunteer coaches and coached children team up to play flag football and invite community members to cheer. Admission is free and the event will include food trucks, a nonprofit resource fair and a variety of off-field games.
Mentors and mentees playing flag football together is more than just a sport. It's about fostering meaningful relationships and positive experiences. Research shows that teaching through sports has a significant impact on children's development, confidence, teamwork skills and building a sense of belonging. By participating in activities like flag football, bigs and littles build bonds that go beyond the field, leading to lifelong connections and personal growth.
