Check it out. We've found eight of the best natural swimming holes not far from Dallas, Texas. You're ready for a late spring/summer road trip.
As sweltering summer temperatures continue to rise in Longview and Tyler, Texas, and throughout the East Texas region, you seriously need a place to cool off.
A few months ago, we shared 9 of the best natural lazy rivers in Texas for tubing, swimming, or just relaxing. And now we've found eight of the best swimming holes to cool down and have some fun. And thankfully, they're not far from us here in East Texas.
Unsurprisingly, the majority of these are located in the Hill Country region of Texas.
The Texas Hill Country is one of my favorite places to visit. The area's rocky terrain is one of the reasons. why? Well, there are many reasons. I was born in central Texas, close to that area, and spent part of my childhood there. Wildflowers are also a big draw.
And for the purposes of this discussion, the rocky terrain means there are interesting caves, and the rocks create clearer pools of water to splash around in and basically have a great time.
This summer, you'll be dealing with temperatures that reach sweltering levels. So cooling off at these Texas “watering holes” is actually quite ideal.
Isn't that refreshing? Additionally, quite a few places on this list also offer other activities such as hiking, boating, fishing, and even cliff jumping.
So let's take a look at eight of the best swimming holes not far from Dallas, Texas.
