MOREHEAD, Ky. – Lindenwood Beach Volleyball (13-8) split two games Thursday to begin the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, hosted on the campus of Morehead State University. The Lions defeated No. 6 Eastern Illinois (3-14) in the final game of the day, but lost to No. 2 Chattanooga (17-9).

After winning the first three games, Lindenwood opened Thursday's game with a 3-0 sweep of the Eastern Illinois Panthers. During postseason competition, play stops when a team reaches his three match points.

All OVC First Team Selection Nia Wilson and Mader Soto In one pair, she was able to secure an opening round victory over Caitlin Flynn and Sylvia Hasz with scores of 21-12 and 21-14. This was the Lions' first win in the OVC Championship.

The Lions lost the second game against Chattanooga on Thursday by a final score of 3-0. Lindenwood will continue to compete in Friday's double-elimination tournament.
Shade and Llorens once again competed in five pairs and had a tough battle with Chattanooga natives Morgan Romano and Julia Lawrence, ultimately losing in two sets by scores of 19-21 and 13-21.
VanBuskirk and Magee also lost 13-21, 12-21 for the fourth place pair. Seidel and McWhorter were the last pair to make it all the way to Chattanooga on Thursday, but they lost by a final score of 14-21, 10-21.
Jacobs and Malzahn were unable to finish the match. He lost the first set 11-21, but led 13-11 in the second set. Wilson and Soto also lost a close first set, 19-21, but were leading 13-10 when the match was called.
