HAMMOND, La. – Andrea Da Silva, a member of the Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team, was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Team Tuesday afternoon, according to a release from the conference office.
Da Silva, a native of Andorra la Vella, Andorra, earned the honor in her first season with the Lady Lions. The junior transfer added the accomplishment to the collection of awards she has earned this season, including All-Conference Second Team and Player of the Week honors.
Southeastern finished the 2024 season with its best record in program history, going 13-19 overall and 4-4 in conference play. Da Silva, who forms SLU's top pairing with partner Rachel Hartman, posted a 23-9 record this season, the most wins in program history. The pair also held to a 71.9% win percentage by the end of the year.
To be selected as an All-Academic Honor Athlete, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 through the semester prior to the sport's championship, have completed at least one year of academics at the nominating school prior to the current season, and have participated in at least 50% of the team's competitions during the most recent season. Candidates for Student-Athlete of the Year must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.5 and have completed at least two years of competition at the nominating school, including the current season.
