AUBURN — The quest to find another player in Auburn basketball's front court is complete.
After starting his career for two years at Georgia State University and starting his career for two years at SMU last season, transfer forward Jaheim Hudson announced on social media that he has committed to the Tigers. Hudson averaged 5.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists for the Mustangs in 2023-24. He started 31 games and started one game, shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from 3-point range while playing 15.2 minutes per game.
The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Hudson averaged 10.1 points and 6.8 rebounds as a sophomore at Georgia State. In a December 2022 loss to Auburn by eight points, Hudson pulled down eight points and 11 rebounds. He played 36 minutes against the Tigers and hit 3-of-12 shots.
“I talked to the last three coaches Jaheim played for in high school, at Georgia State and at SMU, and I respect all three of them and he is one of their favorites. ,” coach Bruce Pearl said. “He's a great person, a great worker and a great teammate. He's going to take us to another level and add great depth to our front line. He's definitely going to have an impact on our program, He’s going to bring another level of toughness to our team. ”
Hudson was unranked by three of the four major recruiting services (On3Sports, Rivals and ESPN), but 247Sports selected him as a three-star recruit and the No. 75 power forward in the class of 2021.
Hudson will likely compete for minutes with Chaney Johnson at PF.
