overview: Assist with the overall management of the university's men's and women's swimming programs, including coaching, student-athlete recruitment and retention, schedule and budget management, equipment ordering, contest scheduling, viable fundraising, public relations, and other duties. It is your responsibility to do so.
Duties:
- Under the direction of the Head Swimming Coach, conducts and evaluates practice activities for designated team members. Provides group and individual support in a manner that engages student-athletes and builds commitment to the program.
- Work with the Head Swimming Coach to integrate efforts and drive program success. Supports other staff activities as needed to achieve team goals.
- We meet with prospective students and their families both on campus and remotely. We provide advice and guidance on the admissions process, the Augustana experience, and the integral role of student-athletes in overall campus life.
- Constantly align and promote the core principles and standards of the program.
- Manages a diverse set of responsibilities including, but not limited to, assisting with travel arrangements, team travel meals, competition operations, and other duties as assigned in connection with team operations.
- Provides feedback to assigned staff members and student employees on work performance and overall efficiency.
- During the school year, we will create an instruction curriculum for physical education activities according to the instructions of the director. Find ways to involve your students in learning activities.
- Communicated regularly with Augustana facility staff, including setting schedules for the facility, hiring and supervising student lifeguard staff, and coordinating event setup and teardown for home swimming and water polo contests. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of , conduct daily water quality testing and communicate facility management needs and willingness to provide basic maintenance and oversight of the venue.

Requirements:
education: A bachelor's degree is required, but a master's degree in a related field is preferred.
Skills and experience:
- 3+ years of experience in a coaching role, preferably at the small college level.
- Ability to understand and comply with various regulations from the NCAA, CCIW, and other regulatory bodies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with diverse groups including coaches, administrators, student-athletes, prospective students, families, and other members of the campus community.
- Excellent prioritization and organization skills.
- Must fully understand and be accountable to NCAA and CCIW rules and regulations. A strong commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
- Working knowledge of Hy-Tek software and Colorado Timing System preferred
Working hours and travel time:
This position requires travel to away contests and high school/club events during the season, as well as other opportunities to meet with prospective students. Expect extended weekend and evening hours, especially during swim season. A current valid driver's license is required.
Physical requirements: This position is located on campus and will work in a traditional office environment. The following requirements are assumed:
Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds. Also requires the ability to listen, listen, speak, read, write, climb stairs, stoop, stoop, and stand for intermittent periods of time. Must be able to use a computer to perform a variety of tasks.
