Apple's WWDC event takes place on June 10, but it's not the only event the company has planned for next month. The company is known for adding Apple Fitness challenge events to the calendar, and now, if you have a top-of-the-line Apple Watch, you can take part in Global Running Day on June 5.
The Apple Watch Activity Challenge: Running Day will allow users to earn new prizes in the Apple Fitness app as well as exclusive stickers for Messages and FaceTime for their efforts.
If you miss your chance, you won't be able to do it again, and you have until June 5 to complete it, so it's definitely worth putting on your calendar. Thankfully, the requirements to complete the challenge aren't too strict: just run 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) outside or on a treadmill and track it in Apple's Workout app.
Here's how Apple describes the event: “Hit the road, trail, track or tread on World Running Day. Log a running workout and run at least 5km on June 5 to earn this special badge.”
What is Global Running Day?
An initiative to help people get active and help those who already run find like-minded fitness enthusiasts, Global Running Day aims to promote the mental and physical benefits of running.
Apps like Strava are also getting in on the action with certain challenges. If you've never run before or are taking a break from running, we've got plenty of resources for you.
