News regarding student-athletes currently in the transfer portal is starting to mount as we learn the destinations of some of the former UNC women's basketball programs.
Alexandra Zelaya has announced her commitment to UNCW, and Anya Poole will remain in the ACC for her final college season as a member of the Clemson Tigers.
Riley Glaze will remain in the Atlantic Coast Conference and take over from Poole, as he has committed to Amaka Agugua Hamilton and the Virginia Cavaliers.
Glaze, who appeared in just five games this season, played a season-high seven minutes and scored four points in a game against Western Carolina on December 15. From that point on, Glaze didn't do much. She played in less than one game. Minutes.
With the frontcourt depth the UNC women's basketball program currently has, playing time likely would have been difficult to find. This likely led to the decision to transfer, as the Grays will likely seek further opportunities at Virginia.
The Cavaliers finished the 2023-2024 season with a 16-16 record, including 7-11 in conference play. Grays wants to be a key contributor to a team that is likely to make waves in the conference, not just in 2024-2025, but for years to come.
As for the Tar Heels, there is still some work to be done as Courtney Bangert and her staff are working hard to assemble the best roster possible for next season.
