Utah Valley's smaller charter and private high schools may not have the history or numbers of larger high schools, but they still have athletes who work hard and want to win.
Brackets and final RPI numbers were released Wednesday, revealing the boys soccer team's seeding for the 2024 Class 2A tournament.
Leading the way was top-seeded St. Joseph, which narrowly edged out second-seeded American Heritage. In fact, while the American Fork-based Patriots had a better record (9-3 to 9-2), St. Joseph's had a better head-to-head record to earn the No. 1 seed.
The other Utah Valley team that received a first-round bye was Lyndon-based Maser, who secured the No. 6 seed with a 9-5 record.
The Lions and Patriots will wait until May 1 for their first playoff game, while Utah Valley's other four teams begin play on Friday.
The only matchup between two Utah Valley teams will be between Merritt (12th seed) and Springville host Orem's Teros (21st seed).
No. 16 Freedom Prep of Provo will host No. 17 seed Parowan, while No. 14 ALA of Spanish Fork will host No. 19 seed UMA Hill Field in the first round.
All games scheduled to start at 4pm
