Why are you running?: In order to continue contributing to the local community, I am seeking re-election as mayor. As Viroqua continues to grow, I feel it is important as a leader to continue to support that growth. Changes have taken place over the past two years, during which good relationships have been formed that will be beneficial for future growth. Our family enjoys living in a community. Our days are filled with all things Viroqua. I enjoy running a business in town, volunteering with the emergency services, sitting in the bleachers at school, participating in events and fundraisers, and everything in between. We are fortunate to have access to high-quality health care, excellent schools, and large and small businesses that provide services and jobs. As a servant leader, I look forward to continuing to be an active listener, build relationships, and support my community. It has been a pleasure guiding Viroqua for the past two years.
What do you think are the more important issues facing Viroqua?: As Viroqua continues to grow, we need to continue on the path we're on by engaging our stakeholders and building on the vision of our community members. A new committee has been established to help us understand the current state of housing in our community. We then work with local leaders and other stakeholders to foster the growth and development needed to increase housing availability. Properly managing local funds and maximizing their value remains essential. Supporting vibrant communities requires expanding our tax base through new commercial and residential development.
Are there any issues currently being handled that should be handled differently?: We have chosen to live in this community together, and we must survive this growth together. A large-scale project is being considered and will require community members to participate. Important topics affecting our community are discussed at Council meetings. I encourage the public to participate and not only listen, but also engage with neighbors, friends, family, and colleagues. We will continue to work as a community and grow together.
