The Kansas State football team's annual spring showcase will be held at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas, on April 12th at 7 p.m., it was announced Tuesday morning.
The event, more of a practice with scrimmage-like elements than a traditional spring game, comes near the end of KU's spring practice. Last year's showcase served as the last of 15 practices that began on February 28, 2023. This year's spring practice schedule will start a little later, but it hasn't started or been officially announced yet.
By holding the Spring Showcase at Rock Chalk Park (head coach Lance Leipold previously said the coaching staff planned to relocate after returning from a bowl game in late December), David This will allow him to remain in Lawrence while construction of the Booth Kansas Memorial gets underway. This gave local fans a chance to see the Jayhawks (last year's event had free admission).
Of course, KU will play its home games in the fall at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas, starting with the season opener against Lindenwood on August 29, and then at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. It will also be held at GEHA Field.
This year's team includes quarterback Jaron Daniels (whose health will be a frequent topic of conversation in the spring), running back Devin Neal, and wide receivers Lawrence Arnold, Luke Grimm, and Quentin Skinner. He will likely return a significant amount of production on the offensive end, including. On defense, players like linebacker Jason Gilliom and safeties OJ Burrows and Marvin Grant will be elevated to more important roles.
KU has added some key transfers, including center Shane Bumgardner and tight end Deshaun Hanika, but the offseason changes have had a big impact on the coaching staff, with a new offensive coordinator, co-defense A coordinator/cornerbacks coach and an offensive coach will be appointed. Next season he will be a line coach.
