Reno, Nevada – Nevada State soccer head coach Vanessa Valentine is one of 16 players invited to the U.S. Women's Beach Soccer National Team national training camp in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Feb. 27 to March 4. It is.
The camp will be used in preparation for the team's BSWW El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup matches, which will be held March 28-30.
Valentine was a member of the Beach WNT that competed in the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games Qualifier in El Salvador in April, helping the team qualify for the games scheduled for August. The Pack's second-year head coach also competed in the 2022 ANOC World Beach Qualifier and the 2021 Women's Intercontinental Cup with the Beach WNT.
As a player and three-time captain at Cal State Fullerton, Valentine earned All-Big West honors three times while playing for the Titans. Valentine played professionally for 10 years in his WPSL, where he spent time with Beach FC, LA Strikers, San Diego United, and his Force in Colorado. She also played one season with the Philadelphia Independence of the National Women's Soccer League.
Entering his second season as the University of Nevada's head coach in 2024, Valentine led Nevada football to one of the best turnaround seasons in program history. Valentine, who had won just three games the year before his arrival, led Nevada to six wins en route to the Pack's first trip to the Mountain West Tournament in 10 years.
Nevada finished sixth in the conference standings in Valentine's first season, the highest ranking in the Mountain West Pac in a decade. The 2023 team ranks in the top eight in program history in goals (24), assists (18), shots on goal (211), corner kicks (92) and shutouts (5).
The Pack is scheduled to play several games in the spring starting in mid-March. The full spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
