A Lawrence High School boys basketball coach has been charged with sexually assaulting a female high school student in 2022.
Police in Manchester, New Hampshire, announced Friday that Jesus Moore, 34, of Manchester, has been charged with aggravated aggravated sexual assault after a woman came forward saying he assaulted her when they were in high school. did.
Manchester police said they received a call from Lawrence police about two weeks ago about an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Manchester. Lawrence police were consulted about the sexual assault by SafeSport, an independent nonprofit organization focused on abuse prevention, education and accountability in the sports world.
Manchester police said that through an investigation, they learned that Moore, a basketball coach at Lawrence High School, arranged transportation for female students to Manchester, gave them alcohol at motels in Manchester, and sexually assaulted them.
According to police, the assault occurred in 2022 and the victim was a minor at the time.
Moore was named Lawrence High School's basketball coach in 2018, according to the Eagle-Tribune. He previously worked as a physical education teacher at Oliver Middle School in Lawrence. He was a star basketball and football player at Lawrence High School, from which he graduated in 2007.
In a statement Friday, Lawrence Public Schools said only that it was aware of the accusations against the employee and that the employee was on administrative leave. They said they have “no additional comment on ongoing police and personnel matters.”
Moore turned himself in to police on Thursday, and bail was set at $1,000 cash. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Manchester District Court on March 27.
