After a remarkable performance on the ice with the Orange team, Ciel Machesky chose to pursue a master's degree in sports management at the University of North Carolina, but she wasn't ready to end her athletic career. Since the University of North Carolina does not have an ice hockey team, she decided to pursue something new and started rowing. Midway through her first year on the water as a Tar Heel, University of North Carolina head coach Erin Neppel noticed Ciel Machesky's rowing ability and potential and contacted Team Canada officials. Soon after, Ciel Machesky received an invitation to train with the Team Canada development team in British Columbia. She took a leave of absence from the University of North Carolina graduate program and transferred in May 2022. Two years later, Ciel Machesky rowed in the Canadian eight that won the gold medal at the World Cup Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.
The former Syracuse Ice captain played in 125 games as a defenseman with the Orange, recording 17 points (five goals/12 assists) and 132 blocks.
