Glasgow Clan are set to develop the next generation of ice hockey talent through a new initiative, the Clan Academy.
The junior development program is currently in the planning stages and the Clan is holding consultations with aspiring young players, coaches and volunteers to shape the future of the program.
Working in conjunction with Braehead Ice Centre, the CLAN’s main focus is teaching young people the fundamentals of ice hockey in a fun and supportive environment.
The initiative aims to equip young players with fundamental skating and hockey skills, laying the foundation for progression into competition.
The Klang Academy offers a comprehensive developmental path that begins with a learn to skate program.
This initial stage ensures that participants become skilled skaters before moving on to the learning to play and skill development stages to hone their hockey abilities.
Clan Managing Director Gareth Chalmers expressed his excitement about the new venture: “We hope to find some of Clan's promising future stars coming out of our ice hockey academy.”
“This is something we’ve been working hard on for a long time and it’s great to see more home-grown talent joining the Clan team in the future.
“But first and foremost we want to establish the right structure for young people who want to skate and learn ice hockey at Braehead Arena.”
The Clan is looking for young players eager to join the Academy, coaches with Level 1 or Level 2 or higher qualifications who are interested in getting involved, and volunteers willing to contribute both on and off the ice.
