The 2024 NHL Entry Draft took place over the weekend at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
More than 200 players were selected over a seven-round tournament, making their dream come true. This is the fourth time in the past six years that a New Jersey high school hockey player has been selected.
On Saturday, the Chicago Blackhawks selected John Mustard with the 67th overall pick in the third round.
The winger, a native of Newmarket, Ontario, played two seasons with Bergen Catholic from 2020-2022.
He had three goals and three assists as a freshman and was teammates with Aram Minnetian, who was selected in the fourth round, 125th overall, by the Dallas Stars in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Mustard had a breakout season as a sophomore in 2021-22, when he recorded 21 goals and 21 assists that winter, helping him earn Second Team All-State honors in what turned out to be his final season with the Crusaders.
