Las Vegas, Nevada โ Providence College freshman Trevor Connelly (from Tustin, California) was selected in the first round (19th overall) by the Vegas Golden Knights at the 2024 NHL Draft held at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, June 28. Connelly becomes the program's fifth first-round pick, joining Joe Halbig (13th).Number1992), Tom Fitzgerald (17Number1986), Mark Jankowski (21st2012) and Jay O'Brien (19Number2018).
Connelly, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound forward, ranked second on the USHL scoring list in the 2023-24 season with 31 goals and 47 assists for 78 points, averaging 1.50 points per game with the Tri-City Storm and was named to the All-USHL Second Team. At the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, he recorded five goals and five assists in five games for 10 points, tying for the most in the tournament. Connelly also won a silver medal at the 2024 IIHF Under-18 World Championship, recording four goals and five assists for nine points in seven games. He also participated in the 2024 NHL Scouting Combine in June and was ranked sixth among North American skaters in the NHL Central Scouting rankings at the time of entering the draft.
