Colorado Springs, Colorado – Former Boston University men's ice hockey stars Jack Eichel and Charlie McAvoy were two of the first six players selected to USA Hockey's 2025 Quad-National Tournament roster, as announced Friday.
Canada, Finland and Sweden will also participate in the 4 Nations Face-Off, which the NHL and NHLPA will host in Montreal and Boston. The four teams will compete in a round-robin format, with the two best teams competing for the 4 Nations Face-Off championship at TD Garden on February 20.
BU is the only university in the nation to have two former players selected to one of the four teams, plus Mike Sullivan ('90) served as head coach and John Hines ('97) was named assistant coach.
Eichel, the 2015 Hobey Baker Award winner who won a Stanley Cup with Las Vegas last season, has 211 goals, 303 assists and 514 points in 539 NHL regular season games. McAvoy, a 2017 First Team All-American, has 53 goals, 224 assists and 277 points in 454 NHL regular season games with the Boston Bruins. The two served as alternate captains for their respective clubs and have combined to represent the United States in 13 major world championships, winning seven medals between them.
