Meanwhile, there's no one in attendance as the Athletics play their final season in Oakland, with attendance at games at abysmal levels – less than half the league's second-worst attendance.
Oakland's current attendance is just 6,126 per game, a historically abysmal figure, and Lev Akabas of Sportico crunched the numbers and shared a new chart on X (formerly Twitter) which shows that there are currently 553 sports teams in the US that draw better attendance than Oakland, including a professional women's volleyball team, two college wrestling teams, and many other sports teams that probably don't draw more fans than MLB teams.

To take a closer look at just how bad the situation is in Oakland, there are currently 13 minor league baseball teams that draw more fans to their games than the Athletics. There are also 11 minor league hockey teams, 12 NWSL teams, seven WNBA teams, and Omaha's women's volleyball team, the Omaha Supernovas of the Professional Volleyball League, draws bigger attendance numbers than the Oakland Athletics.
Not surprisingly, about 200 college football teams draw bigger attendance numbers than the Oakland Athletics, but we're a football nation, so that makes sense. Surprisingly, Oakland has two college women's volleyball teams, eight women's gymnastics teams, and six men's ice hockey teams that draw bigger fan numbers than the A's.
After the Oakland Athletics moved to Sacramento and Las Vegas, attendance will surely increase. Right? A recent poll by Las Vegas local X shows that no one in the desert wants the Athletics.

The Chicago White Sox currently have the worst record in MLB, but they're not far off the mark. Chicago is 8-28 (.222) this season and still averaging over 10,000 more fans per game than Oakland. That's awful.
