OMAHA, Neb. โ The reigning Summit League champion Omaha volleyball team officially announced its full schedule for 2024 on Thursday, with an exhibition at Missouri State on Aug. 25 before kicking off the season the following week with the Omaha Invitational presented by the Sarpy County Tourism Bureau.
The invitational will take place over two days, Aug. 30-31, with matches against Wyoming, Washington State and Houston scheduled for the tournament. Immediately following will be another home tournament, the MH Hospitality Challenge (Sept. 5-7), where Omaha will face Drake and Oklahoma.
Omaha's first official road game will be the following week, when the team heads west to take on Long Beach State on Sept. 11. The California tour continues in Malibu, where the Mavericks will take on UC Santa Barbara and Pepperdine University in the Pepperdine ASICS Classic (Sept. 13-14).
The Mavericks will close out their non-conference schedule with a tournament at Wichita State (Sept. 19-21), where they will face the University of Northern Colorado and California Polytechnic University before facing the host team.
As for the conference schedule, Omaha will play at home against North Dakota and St. Thomas in the final week of September, followed by two away games against South Dakota and South Dakota State in the October opener.
Omaha finishes with a home game against North Dakota State on the 12th before traveling to Colorado to face Denver on the 17th. The last time these two teams met was in the semifinals of the 2023 Summit League Championship, which the Mavericks won in five sets. They'll then return home to face Oral Roberts on Oct. 19 before Kansas City comes to town on the 22nd for a rematch of the 2023 Championship Final.
The second half of the conference season will feature three games in one week, starting with away games against North Dakota and NDSU and concluding with a home game against SDSU in Baxter on Halloween.
Omaha will begin the final month of the regular season with road games against St. Thomas on Nov. 2 and Oral Roberts on the 10. After hosting Denver on the 14th, the Mavericks will play their final home game against South Dakota two days later before concluding the regular season at Kansas City on Nov. 19.
With the regular season over and preparations underway for the 2024 Summit League Championships, to be held Nov. 24-26 in Kansas City, Omaha will be looking for back-to-back conference titles and an NCAA Tournament berth.
