Washington DC – Junior Haley Scoular The Duquesne University swimming and diving team member was named to the Atlantic 10 girls swimming and diving all-academic team, it was announced Thursday by the league office.
The Academic All-Conference team includes student-athletes selected based on their athletic ability and academic achievement throughout the year, including the A-10 Championship. To be nominated, student-athletes must be sophomores and have maintained a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) throughout their academic lives. The team was selected through a vote by the league's public relations directors.
Scholer, a Jamison, Pennsylvania native, had a productive season for the Dukes. She won two medals and held four school records at the A-10 Championships. Scholer won gold in the 200-yard backstroke as a member of the silver-medal winning 800-yard freestyle relay team this February. The Pennsylvania native also placed fifth in the 100-yard backstroke and sixth in the 200-yard individual medley at the A-10 Championships. Scholer also dominated at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships, finishing third in the 200 backstroke and sixth in the 100 backstroke. The junior holds the school records in the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.48), 100 meters (1:02.73) and 200-meter backstroke (2:13.41) and is also a member of the 800-yard freestyle relay team that holds the record with a time of 7:14.11.
Scholer, a marketing major with a 3.92 GPA, earned All-Academic Team accolades for the first time in her career. She was one of three Dukes selected to the CSC Academic All-District® team this season and is a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American (2022 and 2033). Scholer has also been named to the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll the past two seasons.
Duke has produced an A-10 All-Academic award winner in each of the past nine seasons and has produced an award winner in 28 of the past 30 seasons.
