Times are changing in Tuscaloosa.
As the 2024-25 sports calendar looms, for the first time in a long time, Alabama's basketball season may be as anticipated as its football season. Fresh off the team's first-ever Final Four appearance, the basketball team is currently a better candidate to win a national championship than the football team, with All-American Mark Sears announcing his return on Wednesday.
The basketball team's national championship odds are currently at +1200, while the football team's national championship odds are currently at +1400 in head coach Karen DeBoer's first year at the helm.
It will likely be the first time Alabama basketball is ranked higher than Alabama football in the preseason since 2006-07, when basketball entered the season ranked 11th and football was unranked in coach Nick Saban's first year at the helm in Tuscaloosa.
