The Dearborn Divine Child girls soccer team advanced to the final round of the D2 district in the state playoffs with a 6-0 win over Allen Park at home on May 29, 2024. It was the team's second shutout win of the season against the Jaguars. (Courtesy of Corey Linsner — MediaNews Group)
Wednesday's Division 2 girls soccer district semifinal in Dearborn was a rematch of a matchup played earlier in the season, with Allen Park making a trip to Dearborn Divine Child.
The last time the two teams met was in late April, when Divine Child recorded a 6-0 shutout win on the road against Allen Park. Both teams were coming off dominant wins in their state playoff opening games last week, with Allen Park dominating Detroit Cesar Chavez Academy 8-0 and Divine Child handily defeating Melvindale 9-0.
Just like the first time, the District host Falcons of Washington, DC, advanced to the state tournament by again defeating the Jaguars 6-0, the same score as in the first matchup against Allen Park.
