SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) – The Hollister Police Department Animal Protection Services Unit arrested a 61-year-old woman after she intentionally ran over her pet chickens.
Officers said they received multiple calls of a woman kicking chickens, injuring one of them.
On May 23, multiple Animal Protection Services officers and the San Benito County Sheriff's Office executed an arrest warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of San Juan Canyon Road in unincorporated San Benito County.
While executing the warrant, animal control officers noticed a strong odor of feces coming from the residence and obtained a search warrant for the property.
After obtaining a search warrant, animal control officers found two cats living in unsanitary conditions and without proper food.
The two cats were seized from the home and are currently being cared for at the Hollister Animal Shelter and are receiving treatment under the direction of the San Benito County Sheriff's Office.
Police arrested 61-year-old Dina Aiden on a felony charge of animal cruelty and booked her into the San Benito County Jail.
