Liberty Basketball completed a complete roster overhaul as the Flames prepare for their sophomore season in Conference USA. As part of this overhaul, the Flames also entered several names into the portal. Here's a look at where these players have landed since entering the portal following the 2023-24 season.
Joseph Benzant – Abilene Christian
A 6-foot-3 guard from Midland, Texas, Benzant was one of the Flames' top defenders during his playing career at Lynchburg, averaging 5.2 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 58.9 percent from the field last season. Benzant made 4-of-16 3-point attempts and started 29 of 31 games last season. Benzant was a starter all three years with Liberty, starting 96 of 100 games. Benzant is set to start all 36 games in the 2022-23 season, averaging 4.2 points and 5.0 rebounds, second on the team. Benzant also recorded a team-high 64 offensive rebounds and recorded 10 or more rebounds four times, including a season-high 13.
Benzant will return to his hometown of Abilene Christian, Texas, where the Wildcats went 16-18 last season and 10-10 in the WAC.
Brody Peebles – Belmont
Peebles appeared in 32 games with three starts for the Flames last season, averaging 21.3 minutes per game. He also averaged 10.7 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 45.4% from the field and 33.6% from 3-point range. In three seasons at Liberty, Peebles appeared in 101 games with six starts for the Flames. Ranked the No. 2 prospect in the state of Alabama by PrepHoops.com, Peebles is a 2021 Alabama Class 5A All-State selection. He scored more than 3,000 points in his career at Hartsell High School under head coach Fallon Key and led Hartsell to the Alabama 6A Regional Finals in 2020.
Peebles will transfer to Belmont to play for former Lipscomb University head coach Casey Alexander, who recruited Brodie out of high school. Belmont is much closer to Peebles' hometown in Alabama. The Bruins went 20-13 last season and 12-8 in the Missouri Valley.

Sutherland transferred to Wright State University. The Raiders went 18-14 last season and 13-7 in the Horizon League.
