ESCANABA โ Are you ready for some football?
Escanaba recently released its 2024 collegiate regular season schedule. Here is a full list of games and who Escanaba will face this season:
Week 1
@ Kingsford, August 29, 2024, 7pm
The Eskimos will travel down US-2 for an away game against familiar foe the Flivers. The former GNC football rivals last met in 2022 with the Eskimos losing 49-8.
Kingsford will be without reigning UP Player of the Year Eli Routh and UP Defensive Player of the Year Noah Johnson, both of whom have graduated and plan to play at the collegiate level in 2024. Expect this game to feature a mix of Week 1 Blues and plenty of intrigue.
Week 2
@ Cadillac, 9/6/24, 7pm
The Eskimos and Vikings met for the first time in 2023, with a furious late Eskimos comeback leading to a 43-36 victory for Cadillac. This also kicked off Big North Conference play for both teams and will be the first of two trips across the Mackinac Bridge.
Week 3
vs. Petoskey, 9/13/24, 7 p.m.
The Eskimos will play the first of three consecutive home games on Sept. 13. The Eskimos are 8-5 all-time against the Northmen, but lost 50-0 in Petoskey a year ago. The Northmen will also be on the road for the first time since home games against Greenville and Bay City Western, so the games are expected to be closer.
Week 4
vs. Sault Ste. Marie, 9/20/24, 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils will lose some talented players to graduation and will make a three-hour drive to Escanaba for their homecoming game.
This will mark the 35th meeting between the two schools, but the Eskimos have a 25-9 overall record despite losing the past two meetings by a score of 67-19, including a 21-0 loss at the Sault a year ago.
Week 5
vs. Grayling, Sept. 28, 2024, 4 p.m.
This will be Esky and Grayling's second meeting and the first time the two have faced each other in the UP.
Esky lost 37-30 at Grayling last season and this game is a parents night match, with kick-off at 4pm on Saturday instead of the usual Friday night game, so mark your calendars accordingly.
Week 6
@ Marquette, 4/24/10, 6:30pm
The Eskimos have one less day of rest but will still have a huge impact on the UP and the Big North Conference. The Eskimos lead the all-time record with a 44-19-1 record, but Marquette has won the past six meetings.
Week 7
@ Gaylord, 10/12/24, 6pm
Esky leads the way with a 4-3 record, but the Blue Devils won last year's matchup 38-8 and went on to win the district championship with an 11-1 record before losing 33-7 to Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central in the Division 3 regional final.
The away game also features a Saturday night showdown, the last of two regular-season trips across the bridge.
Week 8
vs. Alpena, 10/18/24, 7 p.m.
The Eskies defeated the Wildcats 28-25 without sophomore quarterback Nolan Vink in 2023. Emotions will be high as this game will be the Eskies' senior night.
Week 9
@ Gladstone, 10/25/24, 7pm
The biggest game will once again come in Week 9. The Braves have won three straight games for the first time, this time against the Eskimos, one of the UP's main rivals. Will things be different in 2024? Only time will tell, but the 2024 season begins on August 29th.
