The Major League Soccer season is well into its final stretch, and the stakes are (finally) starting to get higher.
Let's take a closer look at the MLS weekend.
what happened?
Inter Miami proved they can win even without key players, as the Herons, without Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Sergio Busquets, marched into BC Place in Vancouver and took home three points in front of a near-sellout crowd.
In perhaps the best game of the season, Cincinnati stunned Toronto on the road with a hard-fought seven-goal victory to stay on track for a second consecutive Supporters' Shield title.
Meanwhile, Atlanta coach Gonzalo Pineda's woes may have culminated with the Five Stripes suffering yet another defeat at home, this time to Los Angeles FC, after players were sent off on both teams.
The reigning MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew continued their resurgence in MLS form, comfortably beating Orlando on the road to move into fourth place in the East Division.
And finally, both Cascadia clubs are back on winning track as they look to bounce back from poor starts to the season, with Seattle impressing with a win in St. Louis and Portland's stars leading the way to a win against Sporting KC.
Weekend goals
Hey everyone, we have a candidate for Goal of the Season!
Best Player on Match Day
Jeong Sang-Bin – Minnesota United
Sambin is quickly making a name for himself as a standout goalscorer in MLS.
The South Korean has scored three goals in Minnesota's past two games, including two against the Colorado Rapids over the weekend, helping propel the team to the top of MLS teams this season.
Match Day Winners
The LA Galaxy are one of the most anticipated teams of the MLS season and that doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon.
The Galaxy started the season unbeaten in six games before stumbling over a few weeks in late April and early May, but last weekend's win over Houston may have marked the start of a comeback.
Led by goalkeeper Riqui Puig, the Galaxy easily beat the Dynamo to maintain their lead in the Western Conference and are now just five points off the top of the table.
With upcoming matches against Dallas, Chicago and Sporting KC, Greg Vanney's team has a great opportunity to get back on track.
Match Day Losers
Around 55,000 fans packed BC Place Stadium and with Inter Miami missing players like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets, the Whitecaps had their best chance in a long time to perform at home.
But despite what appeared to be an advantageous position, Vancouver managed just two shots on target against a notoriously fragile Miami defense and suffered its third loss in its last four games.
To make matters worse, the Cascadia club has not won an MLS game since late April and is falling out of the race for the top spot in the Western Conference.
