In November, Perry High School (Ariz.) forward Koa Pete became the first 2025 prospect to check out the UNC basketball program on an official visit. Seven months later, the Tar Heels appear to be in contention for the 6-foot-8, 235-pound five-star prospect, who is considering a return to Chapel Hill as part of their current plans. He made his top 10 picks in January, which included UNC, Kentucky, Duke, UCLA, Michigan, Texas, Houston, Baylor, Arizona and Arizona State.
However, Core Pete hinted in a recent interview that the list could change to account for offseason coaching changes. As it turns out, Arkansas isn't on that list, but the Razorbacks appear to be emerging as a legitimate threat in the race since they have former Kentucky head coach John Calipari on board.
