An Auburn University running back was among the victims injured in a shooting in Sarasota, Florida, early Saturday morning, according to multiple reports.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Sarasota County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 3400 block of 17th Street in Sarasota, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office press release.
Police said one of the injured died while the other victims were being treated at a local hospital.
One eastbound lane near the scene of the incident was then closed. Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

An Auburn spokesperson told Al.com that Auburn University football team running back Brian Batty was among those injured in Saturday morning's Florida shooting. '
“We are aware of the situation and continue to gather information,” an Auburn spokesperson told AL.com about the shooting.
USA TODAY has reached out to Auburn University and the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office but has not yet received a response.
