University of Oklahoma men's basketball head coach Porter Moser announced Friday that Dayton transfer Kobe Elvis will be on the roster for the 2024-25 season.
Elvis spent three seasons with Dayton (2021-24) and one season with DePaul (2020-21), playing in 105 career games and starting 84. He averaged 8.3 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game in four seasons, shooting 40.6 percent from the field (323-for-795), 36.2 percent from deep (128-for-354), and 78.9 percent from the line (97-for-123). ) was recorded.
Elvis decided to go to Okahoma on May 3rd.
“Kobe is a very skilled guard who played a key role in Dayton's advance to the NCAA Tournament,” Moser said. “Last season, he had 117 assists and 52 turnovers and was one of the most talented point guards in the country. Kobe can impact the game with and without the ball. ”
With the Flyers, Elvis appeared in 86 career games, starting 80, and recorded 772 points (9.0 PPG), 254 assists (3.0 APG), and 191 boards (2.2 RPG).
In the 2023-24 season, he started all 33 games and averaged 9.4 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game. The Brampton, Ont., product shot 37.9 percent from the floor (106-for-280), 37.0 percent from behind the arc (47-for-127) and 84.7 percent from the line (50-for-59).
He played in 19 games and started four games as a freshman at DePaul, averaging 5.2 points, 1.9 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game.
Elvis finished his prep career with Bill Crothers and led the Colts to the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) Final 8 Championship Game during his senior season. He averaged 26.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.8 steals per game and earned OSBA First Team All-Star honors.
As a junior at Southwest Academy, Elvis was named the 2018-19 OSBA Player of the Year, averaging 28.0 points and 4.7 assists per game, becoming the team's scoring leader.
On the AAU circuit, Elvis was named Most Valuable Player in the 2019 17U Under Armor Rice Championship Bracket and All-UA Rise First Team as a member of the Northern Kings. In addition to his time with the Kings, Elvis also played for Nike EYBL's UPLAY Canada, averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in four games.
