Los Angeles – USC Men’s Volleyball Redshirt Junior Opposite Hitter jack ducher (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) 2nd year outside hitter Riley Hayne(Hawaii Kai, Hawaii/Punahou School) Senior outside hitter jackson reed (Carlsbad, CA/Cathedral Catholic High School), Sophomore Setter ryan sprague(Manhattan Beach, Calif./Loyola High School) were each named to the Mountain Pacific Athletic Federation All-Academic Team on Friday, May 17.
Reed, who graduated from the University of Southern California this month with a bachelor's degree in communications, earned his second academic honor at the conference. Mr. Deuchar, Mr. Haine and Mr. Sprague are each majoring in business administration and were selected to the academic team for the first time in their careers.
To be selected for All-Academic Honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, be at least a sophomore academically, and have completed a full academic year at the institution prior to the season. This award is awarded for participation in at least 50% of the team's scheduled competitions for the applicable season.
The Trojans finished 13-15 in the regular season and sixth in the MPSF standings (3-9). In the postseason, USC advanced to the MPSF tournament semifinals, losing to league runner-up UCLA.The Trojans had six wins against top-ranked opponents and a ninth-year head coach. Jeff Nygard Achieved 100 wins in total.
