SANDUSKY, Ohio (WJW) – A driver accused of hitting a valet in a Cedar Point parking lot and then taking off was arrested Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Riley Bullock, 26, was arrested at a residence in Southgate, Michigan, according to Sandusky police. Bullock was charged with failure to stop after causing an accident on private property, a fourth-degree felony.
“Hey, we're in the Sandusky parking lot at Cedar Point and someone just hit the valet with their car,” said a witness who called 911.
Sandusky police were hoping someone would notice the Cadillac Escalade with Michigan license plates.
Witnesses took photos shortly after a car was said to have struck the valet in a Cedar Point parking lot around 8 p.m. Friday.
“Instead of stopping and assisting or checking on the person who was struck by the vehicle, they fled the area,” Sandusky Police Chief Jared Oliver said.
Chief Oliver said detectives reviewed surveillance video taken from cameras at the amusement park.
“The employee was wearing a high-visibility vest and a safety vest. It was clear that he had been hit and the vehicle continued over the employee's feet after being hit.” he said.
“Is that person hurt?” the dispatcher asked.
“Yes, he's on the ground,” the caller answered.
“OK, is he responding to you?” the dispatcher asked.
“Yes,” said the caller.
“Try to make him comfortable. Don't move him or get him up,” the dispatcher said.
Witnesses said the 34-year-old victim continued to run over his legs even as he yelled for the SUV to stop.
Witnesses said he ran to the window and yelled at the driver, saying he had hit someone.
Police said the victim did not have any broken bones, but further tests are needed to determine the extent of the leg injuries.
