“It is an immeasurable honor to be named the 10th men's basketball coach in UWGB history. I would like to thank Chancellor Mike Alexander and Josh Moon for this wonderful opportunity,” said Gottlieb. “All kids have dreams growing up. Some want to be firefighters, some want to be president. I always wanted to be a head basketball coach at the Division I level.”
Gottlieb continued, “As a kid born at Columbia Hospital, and as a father who was the head coach at the University of Wisconsin at the time, it's even more amazing to have the opportunity to come back to Wisconsin and make my dream come true. Green Bay. Basketball becomes a family, so we invite you to join us. Together, we will play great basketball, bring positive attention to the Fox Valley and UWGB communities, and have a lot of fun. Gottlieb is best known for his broadcasting career and has extensive experience as a player, commentator, analyst, and coach in the basketball world. As a broadcaster, he currently hosts Fox Sports Radio's The Doug Gottlieb Show and All Ball, a podcast that covers the biggest stories in college basketball and his NBA.

Gottlieb began his collegiate career at Notre Dame, leading the team in assists, steals and minutes played his freshman year. After his stint at Notre Dame, Gottlieb transferred to Golden West College (GWC), where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in Business. Gottlieb then found further success at Oklahoma State under head coach Eddie Sutton. In his first season at OSU, Gottlieb was named All-Big 12 honorable mention and conference rookie of the year, and broke OSU's single-season assists average. The following season, Gottlieb was named All-Big 12 honorable mention and led the nation in assists. He is the second Cowboy to lead the nation in that statistical category. Gottlieb capped off a stellar college career at OSU, finishing his senior season second in the nation in assists and ultimately leading Oklahoma State to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.
After a collegiate playing career, Gottlieb had a successful professional career, playing all over the world, including in the United States, Israel, Russia, and France. Internationally, Gottlieb visited Israel where he won a gold medal at the 2001 Maccabiah Games where he was the MVP of the US team. He then returned to the Maccabiah Games as a coach with Team USA's Bruce Pearl in the 2009 Maccabiah Games, 2017 and 2022 Maccabiah Games, where he helped lead the United States to the gold medal in Jerusalem.

Gottlieb comes to Phoenix from a storied basketball family with ties to Wisconsin, as his father, Bob Gottlieb, was the head coach of the Milwaukee Panthers men's basketball team. His coaching career and his esteemed athletic career led to his induction into the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
Gottlieb began his broadcasting career in 2002, co-hosting a daytime sports talk show on an Oklahoma City radio station and securing jobs hosting college basketball games on ESPN and ESPN Regional. did. Gottlieb continued his broadcasting career in 2003 with his Game Night on ESPN Radio, eventually becoming a regular host and appearing on other of his ESPN shows. He moved into television, contributing to SportsCenter and his ESPN/ESPN2 games, as well as launching ESPNU. In 2012, Gottlieb moved to CBS Sports. There he co-hosted “Leadoff” and his own show before moving to Fox Sports in 2017, hosting “The Doug Gottlieb Show” on Fox Sports Radio and co-hosting “The Herd” on FS1.・Sometimes serves as a substitute for Cowherd.
As for his family, Doug has three children. His daughters Harper and Grace are her 19-year-olds and son Hayes is her 15-year-old.
