special to the herald
My name is Scott Bernadore. I am seeking the opportunity to represent the great people of District 4. Although I wasn't born here, I grew up here and got to know many of you personally. I attended high school here, where I met and married the love of my life, Yvette Seckinger (now of Varnador). We have his 19 year old son, Samuel Varnador, who was born and raised here. My family attends Clio Community Church, where I am a lay leader and starting this month I will be a lay pastor.
Now let's talk about my professional career. Anyone who has worked with me or for me knows how much dedication I put into my work. I have 17 years of experience in the construction field and have learned how to read blueprints and understand what is required for actual construction. I have worked in all three sectors: residential, commercial, and industrial. She served as a Sergeant in the Jail Division at the Effingham County Sheriff's Office for seven years, developing the leadership skills necessary to make difficult decisions. There I managed the prison department, transportation department and helped with the courts. He worked in the Zoning Enforcement Department for a year, where he learned how the county works. As the county enforcement department, I am responsible for timber permits, public dumping inspections, pre-construction meetings, LDA inspections, enforcement of all codes and ordinances, and prosecuting cases before the magistrate, just to name a few. I was in charge. Here I learned how the decisions commissioners make affect ordinary citizens in the real world.
Given the experience I have gained from these various industries, I am well qualified to serve in the Commissioner's seat. We are in a time where we need politicians who actually listen to their constituents and act on their wants and needs. As a member of this community for over 30 years, I understand the challenges we face. It's a balance that preserves what makes this community great while respecting everyone's property rights. I am committed to transparency and accountability. I will be open and honest about the decisions I have made and the actions I have taken. I will work to ensure that government is accountable to its people.
