Ronica Stone praised Jordan Love's accomplishments on the football field last season as he led the Green Bay Packers to the playoffs in his first year with the team.
Stone, a professional volleyball player, leads her team, the San Diego Mojos, to the playoffs in the first year of the Professional Volleyball Federation's inaugural season.
And the Packers quarterback is returning that support to his girlfriend on the biggest stage of the season.
Love needed one emoji to describe Stone after seeing an Instagram video of her throwing a kill during a match. It was a goat.
Of course, in sports terminology, goats are used to represent what are called the greatest athletes of all time.
San Diego Mojo advances to Professional Volleyball Federation playoffs
Mojo is in great shape heading into the first four-team Professional Volleyball Federation playoffs this week. You could say they found their mojo.
They started the year with 0 wins and 3 losses, then 1 win and 5 losses, but they recovered well and won 12 of their next 18 games, finishing with a record of 13 wins and 11 losses.
Mojo finished the regular season with three straight wins and won five of their last six games to earn the No. 3 seed.
San Diego will play the second-seeded Omaha Supernovas in the semifinals Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. In the other semifinal, top-seeded Atlanta Vibe will face fourth-seeded Grand Rapids Rise.
Ronica Stone earned goat status at Mojo this season
Stone has been key to the team's playoff berth. She played in all 24 games and led the team with 174 kills, a kill rate of 41%.
The 6-foot-2 middle blocker is one of the team's leaders with 51 points via blocks. Her success on the court led to recognition off the court. She threw out her first pitch on behalf of the team at a recent San Diego Padres game. Love was at Petco Park cheering her on.
Former University of Oregon collegiate volleyball All-American Grace Loberg and Temi Thomas Airala join Mojo as former University of Wisconsin standouts.
