The Strategist happens to be full of runners (not by design, just a coincidence). And this pervades our reporting as well. Of us he ran 7 half marathons, 4 marathons, 3 in college, and in total he ran over 5,000 miles last year. We spent hours of independent testing and interviewed personal trainers and fitness coaches to find the best foam rollers, electrolyte powders, and sports bras. We asked runners what would be the best gift for a runner. We spoke to pro and passionate amateur runners about their favorite gear, and wrote about our own favorite running slings, his packs and headlamps, his beanies. Ben has also talked to celebrities like Gibbard and Jeff McFetridge about the shoes they rely on for long distance runs on the trails and their GPS watches.
So this week, we're testing everything from running shorts to beginner running shoes, interviewing experts, and tapping into our staff of runners to bring you all the information you need to know for every type of runner. I took it seriously (literally). Whether you're a daily runner, a race enthusiast, or just someone who's interested in running, we'll be adding articles on all kinds of running essentials, from arch-supporting socks to drinking hydration packs, so stay tuned! Please check here daily. Working hard. Welcome to Running Week on the Strategist.

I asked about it. Read about all their selections here.

Newsletter editor and avid runner Ashley Wolfgang tried out the Normatec 3-Leg Compression Boot at her physical therapist's office after being sidelined with an injury. “I quickly started looking forward to my physical therapy appointments and craved the kind of tension relief that only these boots could give me,” she says. “But they were too expensive and too spacious for my small apartment in Brooklyn.” So she found her Normatec Go, a portable version of this boot. It has the same peace of mind as the Normatec 3 Leg, and “it's compact so it's great for travel,” she says. I took them on road trips to Georgia, New Hampshire, Nantucket, New Jersey, and took them on a plane to California. ” Read Ashley’s full review here.
