Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) has announced the addition of Sophia Schwapach to its women's soccer team.
A native of Cambridge, Minn., Schwapach brings a blend of athleticism, dedication and enthusiasm to the Thunder roster. Schwapach said his decision to join NCC was due to his passion for both nursing and soccer.
“I chose NCC because of the nursing program and varsity soccer,” Schwapach said.
Schwapach, who had a lifelong dream of entering the medical field, felt that NCC's nursing program was the perfect fit, and one of the aspects of the nursing program that stood out to Sophia was the hands-on experience that NCC offers. I pointed out that.
Ms. Schwapach added that she is looking forward to immersing herself in these hands-on learning opportunities. This will definitely enhance her education and her future career prospects. Schwapach also praised NCC's nursing building and its facilities, she said.
Schwapach's soccer journey began in high school, where he played as a left winger. She continued her competitive club soccer activities at Cambridge Isanti Soccer Club and further honed her skills on the field.
Schwapach said he is excited to join the team and looks forward to playing with his new teammates and building lasting connections.
“I'm really excited to start playing and meeting other people,” Schapach said.
Coach Tre Thomas believes Schapach will have a big impact on the team.
“Sofia will be a great addition to our program! She is an athletic winger and we expect her to bring us a lot of goals and assists this season! She is an outgoing person and He will bring a positive light to our program and represent our culture in the best way possible,” Coach Thomas said.
