Mount St. Mary's University men's basketball head coach Donnie Lind brings in VMI assistant coach Keith Chesley and former Mount University director of operations and Belmont Abbey assistant coach Dave Matturo. Announcing an addition to the coaching staff.
With a new coach jeremy freeman This is his fifth season with the team. A 2015 graduate of Cornell University, he joined the team for the 2020-21 season and served as director of basketball operations until last season, after which he was promoted to assistant coach.graduate school assistant andrew winton I'll be back next season.

Chesley was a member of the staff under Andrew Wilson at Virginia Military Institute, where he served as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator. The Keydets played an up-tempo style with a youthful lineup and ranked 37th.th He set a national record for defensive rebounds per game, hitting the glass an average of 27 times per game. Before working at VMI, Chesley earned spots at Army West, James Madison, Georgia Southern, Stetson and Florida State. He was an assistant at Army, director of basketball operations at JMU, Georgia Southern and Stetson, and a graduate assistant at FSU.
As a player, he amassed 2,119 points at the University of Maine-Augusta, making him the program's all-time leading scorer. A four-time American Collegiate Athletic Association All-American, he was named to the Yankee Small College Conference All-Decade Team and won the organization's Student of the Year Award in 2015. He met his wife, Jamie, at the university where he led the women's program in points and earned a spot on the YSCC All-Decade team in addition to being an Academic All-American. The couple will be inducted into the Track and Field Hall of Fame together in 2022. He graduated from the University of Maine Augusta in 2015 and earned a master's degree from Florida State University in 2018.
Maturo worked at Belmont Abbey for two years, during which time he led the Crusaders to a winning record in Conference Carolinas play. Last season, the team shot from beyond the arc at a high pace and scored 70 points.th Score 3 pointers per game out of 286 schools in Division II.The Crusaders also played aggressive ball, inviting trips to the line, and ranked 77th.th Free throws made per contest. Prior to working for North Carolina, Matturo worked for Randolph-Macon in Virginia from 2015 to 2022. The Yellowjackets were a perennial powerhouse in Division III, culminating in a national championship in his final year.
From 2012 to 2014, he served as Director of Basketball Operations alongside Coach Lind under Jamion Christian at the Mount. Additionally, there are stops at high schools in Shenandoah, VCU, Siena, Maryland and New York. In 2006 he received his bachelor's degree at John Fisher and then in 2012 he received his master's degree at VCU.
Lind was announced as the 23rd person by the university on April 19th of this year.rd Head coach in program history.
