Saran, a 6-4 guard from Istanbul, Turkey, averaged 10.01 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for UC Irvine in the 2023-24 season, including 50.2 percent shooting from the floor and 3-point shooting. It recorded 34.9%. He scored in double figures 16 times, including two career-high 17 points against Cal Poly on February 1st and against Cal State Fullerton on January 4th.

Saran played his high school career at Asheville School in North Carolina, where he averaged 19.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game as a senior, helping the program reach the NCISAA Class 3A semifinals. Saran won three conference championships in his three years in high school at North Carolina and was nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year.
Originally from Turkey, Saran has been a member of the youth national team at the U-19 and U20 levels.
Saran joined Stanford this offseason as a transfer from Oziyah Sellers (USC) and will be his first under coach Smith.
