Match preview:
The Indian women's cricket team will be looking to complete the series 5-0 when they face defeated Bangladesh in the fifth and final T20 international of the series in poor weather conditions here on Thursday.
India's bowlers outperformed their batsmen, but two of the four matches were called off due to bad weather. In the second match, India ended up chasing just 29 runs from 5.2 overs, with the batsmen scoring more runs in fewer overs.
Through the four matches, India's only performance was a 50-point performance by Shafali Verma (51) in the first match. Smriti Mandhana has the highest knock of 47 while captain Harmanpreet Kaur has the highest knock of 39 so far.
Considering that Bangladesh will host the Women's T20 World Cup in October, this performance does not reflect well on the team's batting core.
Mandhana and Kaul will be looking to grab their chances and score big points on Thursday.
Kaul, in particular, will be looking to carry on the momentum after scoring 39 off 26 in Monday's final 14 overs. India won the match by 56 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Despite his lack of consistency, Shafali remains India's top scorer with 84 runs in this series, one more than Mandhana (83). Kaul scored 75 points in four games.
Thursday will be the last chance for India's batsmen to glean as many lessons as possible from this outing in terms of conditioning and pitching.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana's form has declined for the first time in half a century since the first match. She scored a total of 86 points in four games.
Sultana will once again be key to Bangladesh's fortunes, but he hasn't scored that many runs since scoring 51 in the first match on April 28.
However, Indian bowlers have performed well on the slower pitches on offer here, with left-arm spinner Radha Yadav leading the charts with seven wickets.
She found capable support from pacers Pooja Vastrakar (5 wickets) and Renuka Singh (4 wickets) and off-spinner Shreyanka Patil (4 wickets).
Veteran Deepti Sharma also picked up five wickets after her stellar performance of 2/13 in the fourth match on Monday.
Bangladesh's Rabeya Khan is currently second in the bowling charts with six wickets in four matches. 19-year-old pacer Marfa Akhter also has five wickets in four matches.
In the batting order, Bangladesh will rely on Sultana to counter the experienced Indian attack. However, Bangladesh will need support from the likes of Dilara Akhter and Murshidah Khatun if they are to win the repechage.
The last time Bangladesh beat India in a T20I was in Mirpur in 2023, and Sultana played in that match.
