AUSTIN — Is Tashard Choice doing things the old-fashioned way?
The Texas Longhorns continue to boast the slowly growing “RBU” label, and the main reason for that is their running backs coach. What Choice and head coach Steve Sarkisian need to do when recruiting at this position going forward is to demonstrate the NFL talent in the running backs they have produced over the past two seasons, and that will continue into 2025. is expected.
Their recruiting methods, whatever they are, continue to yield potential results this offseason.
James Simon, a 2025 four-star running back from Calvary Baptist Academy (Shreveport, La.), has selected Texas as his final five pick, On3 reports. He will also decide between Notre Dame, LSU, Texas A&M and Alabama.
247Sports currently has 7 predictions recorded for Simon. Three of those are from Texas, but the other four are from his hometown, his LSU Tigers. Of course, these are just predictions from recruiting analysts, as Simon's commitment has not yet been announced.
Throughout the first three years of his high school career, Simon crushed the opposition. He had an impressive 343 rushes, 2,763 rushing yards, and 46 touchdowns during that span, and also had 30 catches for 346 yards and six scores.
It's safe to say the Longhorns would like to add him to their 2025 recruiting class, which already features three-star running back Ricky Stewart.
