Sports Minister Kenson Kashmir has announced that there will be a limited number of free tickets available for the six Cricket World Cup matches to be held at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground.
Casimir said the demand for tickets is very high as fans come from all over the world to watch the games.
“We are also pleased to announce that there will not be many free tickets available for this year's Cricket World Cup. I'm sure every Member of Parliament has experienced the turbulent era of jazz, but the demand for St. Lucia tickets for this World Cup is extremely high. “It’s expensive,” he said.
From April 30th, the Cricket Ground box office is open with tickets starting at $6. The minister said people would need to buy their own tickets to secure a spot at the Olympics.
“We think it is very important that the people of Saint Lucia know that the Darren Sammy ticket booth is officially open. We encourage everyone to get their tickets as soon as possible.”
The Sports Minister also explained that he has full confidence in the team, especially in the addition of Johnson Charles. Coach Kashmir said that if Johnson-Charles is in the team, they will perform well.
“Johnson-Charles had a brilliant century not too long ago. At one point I really doubted whether he would be in that team or not, but he has shown he is in great form and is well suited for the T20 set-up. “Every time we had Darren Sammy and Johnson Charles, we won the Cricket World Cup,” he said.
Saint Lucia's first World Cup match will be played on June 15, 2024.
