GREENSBORO — North Carolina A&T Head Volleyball Coach Hal Clifton announced Monday that the program's recruiting class has been completed.
The Aggies will add four new players to their 2024 roster. lili radnay (6 feet 1 inch, outside hitter, Bekessaba, Hungry, Bekessbai Gyula Andrássy High School, Kaposvar Girls' Volleyball Club), Luca Radnay (6-2, middle blocker, Bekeshba, Hungry, Bekeshbai Gyula Andrassy H, Kaposvar Women's Volleyball Club), charlie medwill (5-8, Setter/Defensive Specialist, Palisades HS, Carolina Junior Volleyball Club, Cincinnati, Ohio), Anahi Alvarado (5-4, Tomball, Texas, Memorial HS, Texas Legacy), brianna gordon (5-11, OH/RS, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, Lakeshore University Research Institute, Titans Volleyball Association), and Leonor Polezzi (5-10, S., Cortona, Italy, University of Turin, Valle Palella Torino).
In November, the Aggies announced the deal. Lilia Bannister (6-4, Right Side, Middletown, PA, Middletown Area HS, Nook Volleyball Club) and tine Loss (5-10, Ohio State, Cameron, NC, Union Pines HS, NC State Volleyball Academy). Combined with the eight players on the Aggies' current roster, A&T looks ready for the start of the 2024 season.
“It's a very talented group with a lot of international experience,” A&T head coach said. Hal Clifton. “Each player brings something different to the team along with our returners. They will make us very well-rounded.”
Lili Radnay brings a solid offensive game to Greensboro's east side. She has incredible range in her shots. She performed well in registered national competitions. Over five seasons, she led the team to a 205-35 record. She also played for the Hungarian selection team, starting with the girls U16s.
“Lili is a solid six-rotation player,” Clifton said. She can earn points by finishing. She brings a lot of experience playing internationally as a member of the Hungarian U19 national team along with her sister. ”
Lili's younger sister, Luka, also plays at Aggieland. She has a great feel for the game and a great touch on the ball. Luka Radnaj recorded 21 blocks, 35 kills, and 12 services for the Hungarian U19 national team at the World Championships, which also qualified him for the European Championships.
“Luka moves the ball really well and has great timing on offense,” Clifton said. “I love her hard work in transition. Her playing for the Hungarian U19 national team at the World Championships has given her great experience competing against top-level teams.”
Medweal will bring versatility and a wide range of skills to A&T's lineup. She recently moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she joined her club Junior Volleyball. Medweal received the prestigious award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). charlotte observer We named her one of the top 20 players in the area.
“As a setter, she has smooth hands and good range,” Clifton said. “She likes to move the ball, but she knows the game well and gives hitters great balls to attack. She's competitive and motivated. Charlie brings a lot of energy to the gym. After working with her at camp, I knew Charlie was the right fit. ”
Alvarado will join the Aggies at the libero position. Alvarado had 1,178 digs and received 1,342 serves in 269 sets played over two seasons. She averaged 4.4 digs per set and had only 56 receiving errors out of 1,342 serve receptions. As a senior, she recorded a total of 896 digs, placing her first in the division, first in Class 6A Region II District 15 and fourth in the Texas High School Coaches Association.
Gordon wowed A&T's coaching staff the first time they saw her play on film. She played as a right-winger for Canada's U19 national team. She has a standing reach of 9 feet. Gordon also has an incredible spike (10-2) and block reach (10 feet).
“Brianna is a very dynamic pin hitter,” Clifton said. “She has great range and the ability to terminate from either pin. We had a great time on her visit. She has the qualities we need as an Aggie.”
Polezzi provides Moore Gymnasium with smoothness and great precision. She played for U19 Valley Palera Torino.
“Leonor quickly rose to the top of our list of setters with her ability to set from anywhere on the court,” Clifton said. “Leonor understands the game well and puts hitters in positions to succeed.”
