La Jolla High School senior Arielle Brotman competes in the Division II 100 butterfly (53.07) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.07) at the San Diego Section girls' meet on May 4 at Granite Hills High School in El Cajon. They won the tournament and achieved a double crown once again.
“I'm so excited to be able to finish my senior year like this with my teammates,” said Brotman, who has decided to attend the University of California, Berkeley.
La Jolla's girls team narrowly lost to Mount Carmel, competing for the Division II title, while Cathedral Catholic defeated the Vikings boys team, also in Division II. — San Diego Union-Tribune

The fourth-seeded Bishops will play fifth-seeded Cathedral Catholic in the opening game of the Open Division tournament on Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m.
In Division I, No. 10 La Jolla Country Day will travel across town to take on No. 7 La Jolla High on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m.
In Division III, No. 9 seed Preuss School will visit No. 8 Mater Dei Catholic on Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m.
women's lacrosse
La Jolla High School, the No. 5 seed in Division I, will play No. 12 Granite Hills in the first round on May 8 at 7 p.m.
The Bishops, the No. 4 seed in Division I, will receive a first-round bye and will next play the winner of the La Jolla-Granite Hills game at home in the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 11 at noon.
La Jolla Country Day, the No. 7 seed in Division I, will host No. 10 Patrick Henry in the first round on May 8 at 7 p.m.

Ahead of the San Diego Section tournament starting this week, the Bishops are ranked 2nd in Division III and 7th overall, La Jolla High School is ranked 4th in Division II and 19th overall, and La Jolla Country Day is ranked 7th in Division III and 7th overall. It is ranked 25th. ◆
