Linc Academy (Missouri) junior sharpshooter Jasper Johnson is a five-star player ranked No. 11 overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite Rankings and was named one of the 10 finalists in late January. Of course, that included the UNC basketball program. At the time, the 6-foot-4, 170-pound guard was less than two weeks away from visiting the Tar Heels to watch their home victory over arch-rival Duke.
But now, Johnson is no longer completely tied to just 10 suitors in his high-profile recruitment drive, he recently explained. League ready.

“So there's a lot of coaching changes going on,” the 18-year-old speedster noted. “I fell out of the top 10, but I'm trying to get back into recruiting. So I've been reaching out to the coaches. They've been talking to my family and building relationships.”
Johnson has previously visited UNC, Missouri, West Virginia, Kentucky and Auburn. However, it's probably worth pointing out that he didn't mention the Tar Heels when talking about those trips during his chat with League Ready above. The other half of his top 10, which is also subject to change, consists of Alabama, Southern California, Kansas, and Baylor.

As for the timeline for a decision, Johnson told League Ready that a decision could be made as early as the next few months.
“If everything goes well, we'll probably be signing a contract at the end of the summer,” he said. “I plan on visiting a few more times this summer before getting serious.”
